WeCARE Grant Fund Program Overview
Leiomyosarcoma (LMS) Cancer is extremely rare, therefore, extensive research of this disease field has attracted fewer investigators. The development of multidisciplinary treatment and research programs necessary to develop new therapies for Leiomyosarcoma (LMS) is limited to a few hospitals and cancer centers requiring many patients to travel away from their homes to receive the necessary treatments.
The Cynthia Solomon Holmes Foundation (CSHF) WeCARE Grant Fund offers much needed financial assistance for Leiomyosarcoma (LMS) patients in active treatment. Each patient is eligible for a maximum of $500 in financial assistance. WeCARE Grants may also be awarded to adults in active treatment for other rare cancers. Rare cancers are defined as cancers affecting 200,000 or less Americans.
Grants help cover the costs for:
• transportation (airfare, tolls, car rental, gas, taxi service)
• lodging during treatments
• meals during treatments
• childcare during treatment
Please note: The CSHF WeCARE Fund does not provide financial assistance for basic living expenses and treatment for sarcoma (any type) or rare cancer is required. An application is not a guarantee of receiving a grant. Funds are limited and based on eligibility and availability.
The Cynthia Solomon Holmes Foundation reserves the right to deviate from these guidelines on a case-by-case basis when special circumstances arise.
If presented with multiple requests and limited funds, priority will be given to applications on a first come, first serve basis.

Evaluation & Approval
All sections of
the application must be completed before it will be considered for
evaluation. Incomplete applications will be returned. Once the completed
application has been submitted, the information provided will be
reviewed and verified with the Treatment Center listed on the
application. Inability to contact the social worker or nurse may result
in the review being delayed or the application declined.
The
patient will then be notified by phone call or letter indicating if they
have been approved and if so, for what amount. Please allow up to 4 weeks for this process.
If approved, WeCARE Grants will be given only
in the form of a check from The Cynthia Solomon Holmes Foundation made
payable to the individual or entity listed as such on the application.
