Our largest fundraiser each year is our annual 5K Run/Walk for the Cure. This year, our 5K Run/Walk was held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 8:30am at Tom Bass Park.
On this day, participants commemorated and honored those affected by Leiomyosarcoma (LMS), a rare sarcoma cancer. This disease affects the smooth muscles of the body. At one time this disease was deemed as one that only affected middle aged individuals, but the reports of younger individuals affected by the disease continue to increase. Although this disease occurs in four of every million cancer cases, the devastation from its impact can be felt by a countless number of love ones.
Portions of the proceeds earned will go towards Leiomyosarcoma (LMS) research and in support of our WeCARE Program, which offers financial grants to LMS patients. The walk consists of supporters cohesively strolling in confidence that this disease can and will be conquered. In addition to the walk displaying a hope-filled atmosphere, light hope-inspired music, refreshments and the attendance of a host of face painters, chair massage therapists and caricature artists, special guests who proactively embrace the cause will participate. This kid-friendly environment is always refreshing for all ages. Thank you all for your continued support!
